SC01 free Supercharging buyer checklist

SC01 is rare and expensive when real. Use this list before you pay a premium. VIN alone cannot prove the option code.

1. 01

   Model gate

   Only early Model S and Model X. Model 3, Model Y, and Cybertruck never received transferable SC01.

2. 02

   Order date

   Almost only cars ordered before 15 January 2017 (deliveries roughly through April 2017). A 2017 build is not enough.

3. 03

   CPO / buyback / inventory

   Tesla CPO, buyback, and some auction cars can have the entitlement stripped even when the year looks right. Ask directly.

   App screenshot

   Seller screenshot of Free Unlimited Supercharging. Ask them to confirm it is not first-owner promo / SC05.

5. 05

   Tesla Support

   Have Tesla confirm SC01 on that VIN. Option list should say SC01, not SC05.

6. 06

   Road-trip value

   Free Supercharging only reliably works at Tesla-owned stalls. Filter the charging map. Many SfB sites will charge you anyway.

7. 07

   Price the premium last

   A working LDU, MCU, and title matter more. Do not pay an SC01 premium on a guess.
